City Streets

Streets (1)
The Maintenance division of Public Works is responsible for all activities related to street maintenance including street repair, street striping, sign maintenance and street sweeping. Street repair includes the patching of potholes and sealing street cracks and other potential damaged areas.

Street Repairs

The City is in the process of updating the Pavement Management System which analyzes street data to allow the City to better asses the whole street network objectively. Many streets are in need of minor rehabilitation and some streets are in need of very expensive complete restoration.

Sidewalks

Under the Seaside Municipal Code and California Streets and Highways Code Section 5610, 5611, and 5612, property owners are responsible for maintaining the sidewalk in front of their property. Any construction in a sidewalk requires an encroachment permit available through the Public Works Department. All work done must be completed by a licensed concrete contractor (Class C-8) or an engineering contractor (Class A).
