The Projects at Main Gate Specific Plan outlines the future development of approximately 56 acres on the former Fort Ord in the City of Seaside. The Specific Plan is a planning framework document intended to set forth the land uses, circulation, site planning, conceptual building, landscaping, architectural design, and specific development standards and design guidelines for the Specific Plan Area. The City sponsored the preparation of this Specific Plan to develop a Lifestyle Center with a retail center (“The Strand”) hotel/conference center, and a full service spa. The completion of this Specific Plan and accompanying environmental documents will establish a process for development review and approval, leading ultimately to implementation and construction of a well planned and designed retail destination that fits the site and the community’s aspiration for a retail center.
